Abel Korzeniowski

Abel Korzeniowski ( born July 18, 1972 in Krakow, Poland) is a Polish film composer.

Life and career

Studies and first experiences

Abel Korzeniowski finished his studies in 1996, instrumental music, especially, he specialized in the string instrument cello.

Four years later he graduated at the Department of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory in Krakow. Korzeniowski was in the class of Krzysztof Penderecki.

His compositions have been performed at the most important film festivals in Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Moldova and Ukraine. Korzeniowski also wrote music for films and documentaries.

In 1998 he received a so-called " Creative Studies " from Kraków city president. Two years later he was honored for his film music at the 25th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia with the "Golden Lion".

Breakthrough

2001 Korzeniowski was taken up by the film magazine Cinema in the list of the best Polish film composer. In the same year had his Symphony hypnosis Germany premiere.

In 2002, he received good reviews for the music for the controversial documentary evolution.

2004 Korzeniowski composed a new score for Fritz Lang's science - fiction film Metropolis.

The following year, he received the Golden Knight Award for his film score for The weather for tomorrow.

A Single Man and first major awards

2009 Korzeniowski composed the soundtrack for Tom Ford's directorial debut A Single Man. The music was highly praised by critics and honored with a Golden Globe nomination in the category of Best Original Score. Korzeniowski but had to concede defeat Michael Giacchino ( Up ).

Private life

In 2006, Korzeniowski moved to Los Angeles in order to concentrate on its Hollywood career.
