Abel Muzorewa

Abel Muzorewa Tendekayi ( born April 14, 1925 in Umtali, Southern Rhodesia, † April 8, 2010 in Borrowdale in Harare ) was the only Prime Minister of Zimbabwe Rhodesia.

Life

Muzorewa was the eldest of eight children of a preacher. Between 1943 and 1947 he worked as a teacher in Murewa. He then entered Mtoko to 1947 preachers. After studying theology at Old Umtali Biblical College in 1955 he became a pastor in Chiduku at Rusape. Until his appointment as Bishop of Rhodesia the United Methodist Church, he served in various places.

On March 3, 1978 among them were Abel Muzorewa and Sithole Ndabaningi the way for a transitional government, which also belonged to Ian Smith and Jeremiah Chirau. After the elections was Josiah Zion Gumede President and Prime Minister Muzorewa. The country's name was changed to Zimbabwe Rhodesia. Robert Mugabe and Joshua Nkomo refused to accept the election results and continued the civil war. The British Government called on the warring parties to bring about a solution. From September 10 to December 15, 1979, therefore, the London conference took place as a result had the Lancaster House Agreement. Muzorewa was the new elections in the spring of 1980, not in the way. The elections on 4 March 1980 won Robert Mugabe. He followed Muzorewa in the premiership.
