Large-flowered Glossy Abelia ( Abelia x grandiflora ) is a plant from the family of Honeysuckle ( Caprifoliaceae ).

It is a hybrid of Chinese Abelia ( Abelia chinensis) and Abelia uniflora.

Description

The large-flowered Abelia reaches a height of 2 to 2.5 m and a similar width. The plant is sensitive to frost. The stems are bent, reddish brown and slightly woody. The glossy leaves are small. The autumn color is bronze purple.

It blooms in early summer. The flowers are white or mauve. The sepals are pale pink and remain on the plant when the flowers fall off.
