Abeona

Abeona and Adeona were Roman " special deities ", which derived from the Latin verbs abire and adire, watched over the first coming and going, so the baby steps, little children to and from their mother.

The two counting the deities of childhood figures of Roman mythology were mentioned in Marcus Terentius Varro in the 14th book of his Antiquities lost rerum divinarum. Varro drew his information probably from the Indigitamenta - Pontifikalbücher which also special deities often of topical function of Varro so-called "safe gods " ( dei certi ) aufführten. In Varro, the Christian writer Tertullian ( the Gentiles 2.11 An) and Augustine of Hippo supported ( City of God 4.21 ) that mention the goddesses in their polemics against the pagan gods faith. Otherwise, there is no further evidence about Abeona and Adeona.
