1.6

Abetti is a very small impact crater near the southeastern edge of Mare Serenitatis, northwest of Mons Argaeus.

The exact location is unclear since it is located on different maps works of NASA at different positions (compare LM -42 Mare Serenitatis, LTO- 42C2 Clerke and LTO- 42C3 Dawes ) and specified in the Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature of the IAU position no clearly identifiable crater corresponds to and also different from the NASA positions. The IAU position and size of the closest matching structure is a ghost crater.

Abetti was named by the IAU by the two Italian astronomer Antonio Abetti (1846-1928) and Giorgio Abetti ( 1882-1982 ).
