Abhidhammapitaka

The Abhidhamma ( Pali; abhidharma sanskrit ) is the third part ( pali pitaka, basket ') of the Buddhist Pali Canon. The teachings of the Buddha and his chief disciples get into this work, a psychological and philosophical justification and formulation. Abhidhamma actually means the higher Dhamma, as in the Abhidhamma in terms of ultimate reality ( paramattha dhamma ) is taught. The Abhidhamma is founded on the experience and knowledge of the Buddha, which is present here in a logical order. It is sobering and ultimately liberating vision of things as they really are, who has acquired through quiet Insight -Wisdom Meditation ( samatha - vipassana ) of the Buddha.

The Seven Books of Abhidhammapitaka

  • Dhammasangani: an analysis of consciousness and matter.
  • Vibhanga: essays on the various points of doctrine, such as the five aggregates aspects ( khandha ), the physical foundations of the six kinds of consciousness, the physical and psychological elements, the four holy truths, the twenty-two skills that dependent origination ( paticcasamuppada ) the four right efforts, the four pillars of the senses, the four bases of magical powers, the seven factors of enlightenment, the eightfold path, the self- wells ( jhana ), the four immensities, customs rules, the four analytical knowledge ( patisambhidā ), the knowledge.
  • Dhatukatha: Meeting of the eighteen elements or factors of psychophysical processes: organ of vision, shape (fiber ), eye-consciousness; Hearing organ sound ( wave ), ear-consciousness; Olfactory organ, smell, olfactory consciousness; Schmeckorgan, juice, Schmeckbewusstsein; Tactile organ, tactile, tactile consciousness; Spirit, representable, spiritual awareness.
  • Puggalapaññatti: description of individuals according to their salient traits.
  • Kathāvatthu: discussions on disputed points of doctrine and the false teachings of the Buddha after existing in the second century seventeen sects (see Dipavamso ). This book was written by Moggaliputta - Tissatthero and on the composite appointed by King Ashoka third Council of Pataliputtam about 253 BC, argued.
  • Yamaka: pairs of opposites.

Three works of Sariputta

The Abhidharmakosha ( " Treasury of Abhidharma ") is a different content from Abhidhammapitaka Abhidharma literature of the Sarvastivadin.
