Abi Ofarim

Abi Ofarim (Hebrew אבי עופרים; born October 5, 1937 in Safed, Galilee in Israel as Abraham Imperial City ) is an Israeli dancer, singer, guitarist and choreographer, the 1959-1969 along with his then wife Esther as the singing duo was Esther & Abi Ofarim known internationally. The dial Munich has already received 59 gold records to this day.

In the late 1960s Abi Ofarim was romantically involved with actress Iris Berben. After separation by Esther Ofarim he tried a solo career, which, however, never got going properly. At the same time he was very successful as a music producer, he worked and lived together, among others, Margot Werner. In January 1979, Ofarim was arrested for drug possession and tax evasion is suspected and spent four weeks in the JVA Stadelheim in custody. He was later sentenced to a suspended sentence of one year.

In 1982 he released a solo album titled Much too Much and his memories in the book The Price of wild years. Later Ofarim announced his farewell to the stage and produced only music for other artists. In 2009, after 27 years break appeared a new album under the title Too Much of Something.

Ofarim is the father of singer and actor Gil Ofarim and Tal Ofarim.
