Abid Mutlak al-Jubouri

Abid al - Mutlaq Dschiburi (Arabic: عبد مطلق الجبوري ʿ Abid al - Mutlaq Dschibūrī ), a Sunni, is an Iraqi politician. He is the Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq.

Al- Dschiburi comes from the multi-ethnic city of Kirkuk oil and was formerly a member of the Baath Party who belonged to Saddam Hussein. In the time of Saddam Hussein, he was a general in the Iraqi army, who was known for his skills in the Iran- Iraq war. Later, he was dean of the Iraqi Military Academy. He also studied law and military technology. He is a member of the major Dschiburi tribe.

In the first freely elected Iraqi government since Saddam Hussein, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and thus selected, together with the Kurds Rodsch Nuri Schawais and the secular Shiite Ahmad Chalabi, the deputy of Shiite Ibrahim al- Jaafari. By his appointment, and the appointment of Saadoun al- Dulaimi as Defense Minister, one hopes miteinzubinden the Sunni resistance fighters in the political process in Iraq.
