Abies recurvata

Description

The Min - fir is common in China. The distribution area extends from South Sungqu, southwest Gansu and western Hubei along the Min Jiang to the north and west of Sichuan, to the southeast of the Tibet Autonomous Region and the Northwest Yunnan. They settled mostly mountains and high-lying river valleys.

There are two varieties:

  • Abies recurvata var ernestii ( Rehder ) CTKuan occurs in Gansu, Hubei, the Tibet Autonomous Region, Sichaun and Yunnan. It grows up to 60 meters high and their needles and cones are larger than those of var recurvata. This variety is out ernestii in some works, as well as in the Flora of China as a separate species Abies. Synonyms for this variety are Abies beissneriana and Abies chensiensis var ernestii.
