Abilene Aviators

The Abilene Aviators were an American ice hockey team from Abilene, Texas. The team played from 1998 to 2000 in the Western Professional Hockey League.

History

The Abilene Aviators were established in 1998 as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League. The team name was chosen based on the location in Abilene Dyess Air Force Base. In its first season, the 1998/99 season, reached the Aviators as the winner of the WPHL Western Division immediately the playoffs for the President's Cup, where they automatically moved into their Division in the second round because of their first-place in which they the Fort Worth Brahmas in the best- of-three series were subject to a sweep. After the team in the season 1999/2000 could not connect to the successful season of the previous year and only took six wins in 26 games, the leaders decided the club already start of the season out of the game operation of the WPHL to take and dissolve it.
