Ã…bo IFK

Åbo IFK - Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna i Åbo, German " sports club mates from Åbo " - is a Finnish sports club based in Turku, Swedish Åbo, which was founded in 1908 by the resident in Turku Swedish folk group. In the early days of Finnish football, the club was one of the most important in the country and was until 1924 a total of eight times represented in the championship final. The establishment of the association took place in 1908, at a time when the Swedish folk group Turkus was much stronger than today around 5%. Stadium

ÅIFK Turku plays today on the Yläkenttä, not far from the Paavo Nurmi Stadium.

The record attendance for a home game of ÅIFK dates from 1967, when 5861 spectators watched the game against local rivals TPS. At that time they played but in Kupittaan Jalkapallostadion (now Veritas Stadium ).

Handball

The handball team has become the figurehead of ÅIFK. The men's and women's teams among the best in Finland and play in the first division.

These days, the club still operates athletics and bowling. The Hockey Division resolution was once a member of the first Finnish league.
