Ã…boland

Åboland (Swedish, Finnish Turunmaa ) is a region in the archipelago of the Archipelago Sea, off the southwest coast of Finland. Åboland is also one of five administrative Communities ( ekonomiska RegioNER ) of the Finnish landscape Varsinais- Suomi ( Finland Egentliga ). It covers the majority of Swedish-speaking southern part of the archipelago area, which is upstream of the city of Turku (Swedish Åbo ). The Archipelago Trail connects the islands of Åboland over bridges and ferries. Åboland had on 31 August 2006 22,821 inhabitants.

Åboland was first settled in the time of the Crusades. Before the islands were visited at most seasonally for hunting and fishing. To the contrary, for example, Bronze and Iron Age cairn that exist in the region.

To manage Community Åboland include the city of Parga and the community Kimitoön.
