Abort (computing)

The term program termination (short abort, abort English ) refers to computer science the premature end of a program run.

The crash can be caused by an outside influence either - for example as a manual intervention by a system administrator - through a program error or a problem in the operating system (such as memory). The damage caused by an error termination is colloquially known as crash. The operating system often provides the program termination diagnostic information about the cause of the error.
