Aboubacar Somparé

El Hadj Abubakar Somparé ( born August 24, 1944 in Boké ) is a Guinean politician and served from December 22, 2008 until December 24, 2008 as acting President of Guinea.

Somparé was 1978-1984 Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea in France. In the years 1987 to 1989, he stood before as rector of the Université de Conakry. In April 1997, he was elected General Secretary of the ruling party Parti de l' Unité et du Progres (PUP ). Three months after the parliamentary elections in June 2002 Somparé was elected on 23 September 2002 as President of the Guinean National Assembly.

In this role, he should have provisionally take over the official duties for 60 days according to the constitution after the death of President Lansana Conté on 22 December 2008 but the military coup immediately after the news of his death Conté.
