Above & Beyond (band)

Above & Beyond is a British trance project of music producer Jonathan " Jono " Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki.

Band History

Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki already knew each other from Westminster University and together have formed in the summer of 1999 the record label Anjunabeats, has already received great support from Paul Oakenfold and Pete Tong whose first publication ( Anjunabeats Volume 1 ). Tony McGuinness was aware of the producer duo about his brother Liam and asked her in 2000 to assist with the completion of a remix of the club classic Home of chakra. Your version appeared under the name of Above and Beyond Remix and was (especially because of the support from Pete Tong ) number one of the UK dance charts. Above and Beyond was a result, the sustainability of the project.

Gained worldwide attention in the trio by the remix of Madonna's What it feels like for a girl, which was also used for the official music video.

The first single was released in 2002 under the title Far from in Love and became a club hit.

In addition to the successful remix of projects and productions Above & Beyond are also active as a DJ team. The trio won Essential Mix of the Year Award at the BBC Radio 1 and was also nominated at the International Dance Music Awards in various categories. In 2009 she won the award in the category " Best Artist (Group) '.

In the DJ ranking of DJ Magazine Above & Beyond occupied four times a top 5 ranking. In 2011 they were ranked number 5

Trance Around the World / Group Therapy Radio

Weekly, every Friday night released the trio also hosted a radio show called Radio Group Therapy ( ABGT ) that can be received via different broadcasters. By the 3rd November 2012 was called the radio show Trance Around the World ( TATW ). Since episode 227 ( 1 August 2008 ), the program may also be downloaded free through iTunes as a podcast or on a special website incl tracklists. Trance Around the World reached by its own account in the last few weeks more than 30 million listeners, information for the new radio show are not available at the time. Comparable programs are, for example, A State of Trance by Armin van Buuren or VONYC Sessions by Paul van Dyk.

Almost every episode of Group Therapy Radio ( excluding special items) begins with the intro and an approximately 60 - to 90 - minute moderated DJ set the producers. There are several regular sections: First, the Record of the Week, a track that is highlighted in the program and is selected from Above & Beyond themselves. After the Push the Button - track, a song that is selected each week by fans of the show on the Facebook page follows. The name Push the Button is an allusion to a habit of the trio to bring in live performance a random person on the stage, then in an interrupted track again must press the play button. This is followed by a flashback track, a classic that will be played again, and then follows the Guestmix where each week a different DJ from Above & Beyond will be invited to fill the last 30 minutes of the show with music. These last few minutes are not moderated.

OceanLab

Since 2000, the trio released along with singer Justine Suissa under the name OceanLab. Their first single was Clear Blue Water. This brought them recognition already in the scene. By 2006, three other singles were released. Then, the four decided to start a studio album. Since these are other projects in the works had, it took almost two years to this album was finished. In July 2008, it was released under the name Sirens of the sea.
