Abraham Blooteling

Abraham Blooteling ( born December 2, 1640 Amsterdam, buried on January 20, 1690 ) was a Dutch etcher, mezzotint artist and engraver and publisher.

Abraham Blooteling was a pupil of Cornelis van Dalen and created a series of drawings by Peter Paul Rubens, which were used as models in the studios. Later he turned to with fondness the Kupferstecherei, which he improved by his invention of the Granierstahls, because this was more suitable for reproduction of Rembrandt chiaroscuro effects. He was based in many of his engravings after Bartholomeus van der Heist and Cornelis Pietersz. Bega.
