Abraham de Vries (painter)

Abraham de Vries (* around 1600 in Rotterdam, † 1650 or 1662 in The Hague) was a Dutch painter and draftsman.

Vries was formed under the influence of Thomas de Keyser 's most outstanding portrait painter of the Dutch school of whose works are distinguished as much by force of expression and size of the view as by care of the picturesque presentation and admirable treatment of chiaroscuro.

De Vries lived and worked in Amsterdam long before he settled in 1643 in The Hague. There he died then also in 1650.

Pictures of him have museums in Amsterdam, Dresden, Gotha, Lille, New York and Rotterdam.
