Abraham van Diepenbeeck

Abraham van Diepenbeeck ( born May 9, 1596 's- Hertogenbosch, † December 31, 1675 in Antwerp ) was a Dutch glass painter, painter, draftsman and design draftsman.

Life

Diepenbeeck was first taught by his father's glass painting, worked in Antwerp since 1623 in this and then became a student of Peter Paul Rubens. In 1636 he acquired the rights of citizenship in Antwerp.

Diepenbeeck also worked for a time in England and illustrated two manuals on horsemanship, which had William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Newcastle wrote in 1658 or 1667 and moved to Antwerp. He died in 1675 in Antwerp.

Works

From its stained glass different ruins still remain, such as the stained glass windows in the chapel of the Blessed Virgin in the opaque and of lower luminosity.

His main works are:

  • The consecration of an abbot by the healing. Norbert in the village church of Deurne near Antwerp,
  • The Entombment of Christ in the Museum of Braunschweig,
  • The marriage of healing. Catherine in the Berlin gallery,
  • Escape the cloelia in three different representations in Berlin, Dresden (gallery ) and Paris (Louvre) and
  • A couple in love with Cupid ( in the Louvre).

He also has excellent portraits painted and executed many drawings as templates for an engraver.
