Geography

Geographical location

Absberg is centrally located amid the Franconian Lake District on a mountain spur above the little Brombachsee. In the immediate vicinity are also the Igelsbachsee and the Great Brombachsee. The nearest towns are 5 km away gap and Gunzenhausen (9 km).

History

After the extinction of the family of Absberg 1647, whose headquarters was the Outbound castle Absberg 1651 the German Order was invested with the fief to Absberg after several years of inheritance disputes.
