Geography
Geographical location
Absberg is centrally located amid the Franconian Lake District on a mountain spur above the little Brombachsee. In the immediate vicinity are also the Igelsbachsee and the Great Brombachsee. The nearest towns are 5 km away gap and Gunzenhausen (9 km).

History
After the extinction of the family of Absberg 1647, whose headquarters was the Outbound castle Absberg 1651 the German Order was invested with the fief to Absberg after several years of inheritance disputes. Built in 1725, Karl Heinrich von Hornstein the Absberg castle. With the Act of Confederation in 1806 the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria. It was one of Prussia in 1796 occupied the Office Coming Ellingen of the Teutonic Order, with the Principality of Ansbach in the Treaty of Paris ( February 1806 ) came by to exchange Bavaria. The rights of the Teutonic Order were sequestered in 1806 by Bavaria, though its abolition de jure only took place in 1809.
Incorporations
Until the municipal reform Absberg belonged to the former county Gunzenhausen. On 1 May 1978, until then independent municipality calf Steinberg was incorporated with their district Igelsbach. All locations came to the district of White Castle -Gunzenhausen.

Culture and sights
Absberg has two interesting churches, the Evangelical Lutheran Christ Church from the late Gothic, built in 1597/98, and the Catholic parish church of St. Ottilia in the former German Order castle, as former castle chapel, a rococo church interior from 1724 to 1726.
Natural Monuments
The municipal area on the south bank of the small Brombachsee the nature reserve is located on a small peninsula Brombachsee.

The market Absberg is accredited resort since 1998 and is ( right by Little Brombachsee, each about 2 km to Great Brombachsee and Igelsbachsee ) frequented due to its central location, particularly in summer by vacationers, especially from the region of Nuremberg, for recreation. The holiday there is mostly, sailing, surfing, hiking, biking and camping used for bathing. Absberg has 57 registered accommodation ( apartments, hotels and pensions).
Economy
In 2010, the manufacturing sector and 65 in the area of trade and transport 72 employees at the workplace. In other areas, 403 people were employed. Employees at the residence, there was a total of 441 in the manufacturing sector as well as in mining and quarrying and earth, there was no, in the construction of five plants. In addition, there were 33 farms with an agricultural area of a total of 694 hectares. Of these, 417 hectares of arable land and 258 acres of meadowland.
