Absolute Time in Pregroove

Absolute Time in Pregroove ( Latin - English literally for " exact time in pre-groove ", briefly called ATIP ) is a designation of the information in the guide track pressed on CD- disks (CD -R and CD -RW). This includes, among other data at the beginning of the beginning of the lead -in and the capacity of the blank. From the lead-in start time, manufacturers and the recommended write strategy on a table in the drive can be derived. In addition, the guide track along the entire length (hence the name) includes the continuous time information needed by the burner for positioning. That this information is stored as the time has its origin in the fact that the CD has been developed as an audio disk. For DVD media, this information is now stored as a consecutive address and thus called address in pre-groove.
