Abū Lahab

Abu Lahab (Arabic: أبو لهب, Abū Lahab DMG, Father of the flame '; † 624) was an uncle and implacable enemy of the Prophet Mohammed. He and his wife are in the Quran Surah 111 - among others - also bears his name, damn it. Life and Family

Abu Lahab was a son of Abd al - Muttalib and one of the leaders of the Quraysh. The traditions describe him as a tall, corpulent man who easily inflamed to anger.

The mother of Abu Lahab said Lubna bint Harith al - Umm Jamil bint His wife's name was Harb b. Umayya and harbored a violent antipathy against the Prophet. She gave birth to Abu Lahab three sons. Death

Abu Lahab became ill with smallpox. He died in 624 AD, two years after the Hijra, shortly after the news reached him of the defeat of the Meccans in the Battle of Badr. In a tradition it is said: " Abu Lahab lived after this incident only seven days, then God killed him by poisonous leaves. "
