The Abu volcano group (Japanese阿 武 火山 群, Abu- kazangun ) is a group of shield volcanoes, which extends along the southwest coast of the Japanese island of Honshu in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The group has been active since the late Pliocene to the present Holocene. Historically, however, traditional outbreaks are not known. The last eruption is dated 3,400 years back. The group is made up of more than 40 craters and covers an area of ​​approximately 400 square kilometers. The volcanic cone Irao -yama is 641 m, the highest elevation, the lava dome hub -yama has a height of 369 m. The volcanic activity in this area is related to the subduction of the Philippine plate.
