Abundance (ecology)

The abundance (from the Latin abundantia = abundance, abundant adjective ), and density, frequency and amount degrees, referred to in the ecology of the number of individuals of a species, based on their habitat. It can also mean the absolute number of settled there or living species. The population density can be equated with the abundance once the considered area or room unit corresponds to the settlement area.

The Abundanzregel states that in diverse ecosystems, species equipped with great response width to obtain the greatest abundance. In contrast, reach in poor equipped ecosystem types that have a lower, but specifically more pronounced reaction width, the greatest abundance.
