Académie Louvain

The Académie Louvain in Ottignies -Louvain- la -Neuve is the association of French-speaking Roman Catholic universities in Belgium. It was founded in 2004 as a result of the Bologna process ( creation of a single European Higher Education Area ). Attached are:

  • Université catholique de Louvain (UCL ) in Ottignies -Louvain- la -Neuve
  • Facultés universitaires Notre- Dame de la Paix ( FUNDP ) in Namur
  • Facultés universitaires Saint- Louis ( FUSL ) in Brussels
  • Facultés universitaires Catholiques de Mons ( FUCAM ) in Mons

After almost three years of working together in this union the rectors of the four universities decided on 12 March 2007 now to enter into negotiations with the aim of merging four institutions in a single university. Each facility would then be a campus of the Université catholique de Louvain be.
