Academy Juvenile Award
The so-called Juvenile Award was a special prize from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which was presented during the Oscar ceremony. These were a miniature version of the regular Oscar statue. The first winner was the then six year old Shirley Temple. This price is no longer awarded today, as in the meanwhile children can show up in the normal nomination lists (such as Tatum O'Neal for her role in Paper Moon, Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver, Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense, Keisha Castle -Hughes in Whale Rider, Anna Paquin in The Piano, Abigail Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine, Saoirse Ronan in Atonement, Hailee Steinfeld in True Grit or Quvenzhané Wallis in Beasts of the Southern Wild ).
