Academy of Sciences of Albania

The Albanian Academy of Sciences (Albanian: Akademia e Shkencave e Shqipërisë, English: Academy of Sciences of Albania (ASA ) ) is the national Academy of Sciences of Albania, based in Tirana. It was in 1972 with Aleks Buda (* 1911, † 1993) established as its first president.

The Academy is divided into two classes: one for social sciences (Secretary Lefter Nasi ) and one for natural and engineering sciences (Secretary Përparim Fuga ). President since 1997, Ylli Popa.

There are several independent scientific institutes, laboratories and other scientific institutions. The Academy is a member of the All European Academies.
