Acampe rigida

The genus Acampe from the orchid family (Orchidaceae) consists of seven species. There are mainly epiphytic growing plants. They are widely used in the Paläotropis.

Description

The growth of Acampe done monopodial, the shoot axis grows at the top and on and branches out only occasionally. In the lower part of the plant, there are a few thick, of velamen enveloped roots. The leaves sit in two rows on the shoot. The leaf bases include the shoot, there is a separation between the base and leaf blade tissue. The leaves are shaped leathery or fleshy and linear. From the axils stems from the grape-like or slightly branched inflorescence. He is usually shorter than the leaves. The flowers are 'upside down from a fleshy, stiff consistency. Sepals and petals are colored the same, and similarly shaped to the inner petals are smaller than the outer three. The lip is three-lobed or unlobed. At its base it is fused with the pedestal to a baggy, short spur. The interior and the opening of the spur are hairy in some species. The column is short and thick. The stamen is located at its end with four unequal pollinia. The large and small pollinia are connected via a pedicel ( stipes ) with the viscid disc ( Viscidium ). The scar is separated from the stamen of a slightly sunken, arranged transversely to the column axis area through a short, slightly protruding separating tissue ( rostellum ).

Dissemination

The genus Acampe has a wide distribution in the Paläotropis. It has offices in Africa and Madagascar with the way Acampe pachyglossa. In Asia, the site of India extends over the Southeast Asian mainland to Malaysia and the Philippines.

Systematics and Botanical History

John Lindley introduced the genus Acampe 1853 with the kind Acampe cephalotes.

An examination of the relationships within the tribe Vandeae revealed as closely related to the genera Staurochilus, Gastrochilus and Haraella. Related genera are grouped in the subtribe Aeridinae.
