The eye stripe surgeonfish ( Acanthurus dussumieri ) is a species of the family Acanthuridae.

He lives in the Indo-Pacific, from South Africa to Japan and from Hawaii to the Great Barrier Reef. In parts of the central Pacific Ocean, he is missing. In South Africa hike eye stripe surgeonfish into the Atlantic. The animals usually live on outer reefs to a depth of 130 meters or over seagrass beds.

There are usually loners. They rarely come together in small flocks. They also do not spawn in swarms like many other surgeonfish, but in pairs. Old males get a nuchal hump. Characteristics of the fish are the yellow eyes ribbon and white, black edged scalpel.

Eye stripe Doctor Fish eat the fine layers of brown, green, diatoms and detritus, lying on the ground.

There are large animals, which can grow up to 54 centimeters long. They are therefore totally unsuitable as an aquarium fish.
