Acarigua is a city in Venezuela and is located in the state of Portuguesa.

Facts

It is the capital of the district Páez. Acarigua was founded on September 29, 1620, there were already there before an indigenous settlement of the same name. It covers an area of ​​110 km ². The population is estimated by 2006, about 250,000, with the agglomeration of about 390,000.

Importance

The city is known as agro- industrial center of Venezuela and has one of the major industrial areas of the country. In the city there are eleven universities.
