Acciano
Acciano is a municipality with 339 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of L' Aquila in the Abruzzo region. It is located 152 km southeast of Rome and 39 km southeast of L' Aquila.
Geography
Acciano is situated on a hill overlooking the valley of the Aterno on the edge of Mount SIRENTE. The municipality is part of the Regional Park Sirente - Velino. Acciano is a member of the Comunità Montana Siren Tina. The municipality consists of the villages Beffi, Roccapreturo, San Lorenzo and e Succiano.
The nearby towns are Caporciano, Molina Aterno, Navelli, San Benedetto in Perillis, Secinaro and Tione degli Abruzzi.
Traffic
Acciano is connected via the Strada Stadale SS 261 Subequana to the road network.
With the Acciano stations and Beffi the municipality lies on the railway line L' Aquila - Sulmona.
History
In the migration period in the 7th century, the fortified villages Beffi and San Lorenzo were established in the municipality. Even today, the fortifications of the places to visit.
