Accor

The Accor S. A. is an international French hotel company and was founded in 1967 by Paul Dubrule and Gérard Pélisson. The company is now a major global hotel chains. In Germany there are over 330 hotels of different brands.

Accor achieved worldwide sales in 2009 of 7.065 billion euros and employed 150 525 employees in nearly 100 countries. It is listed on the French stock index CAC 40. In addition to the hospitality services are another important business area.

History

In 1967, Paul Dubrule and Gérard Pélisson found the SEE Group. The first was opened in Novotel Lille. The first Ibis opened in 1974 in Bordeaux, at the same time was the acquisition of COURTEPAILLE restaurants. Foundation

Accor was created in 1983 from a merger of Novotel SEE Group with Jacques Borel International. The Accor logo with the wild geese as a sign of global travel originated at this time. In 1985, the creation of Formule 1, the first Formule 1 hotel opened in Evry.

The first Formule 1 in Germany was opened in 1997 (the first Etap hotels in Germany were called first Formule 1 bleu ). Then France's first corporate university for service activities the foundation of the Académie Accor was completed. Expanding the company's activities

Within France, the former ultra-low -budget concept of Formule 1 hotel remains under the brand hotelF1 introduced in 2009.

In the fall of 2012, the budget chain Motel 6 and the long-term hotel chain Studio 6 in North America were sold to the investment fund Blackstone Real Estate Partners VII. The transaction amounted to 1.9 billion U.S. dollars ( 1.5 billion euros ). Thus, Accor operates only the brands Sofitel and Novotel in North America.

In January 2011, the French manager Denis Hennequin replaced the previous senior manager Gilles Pélisson, a nephew of the company founder, from. Accor is controlled by the financial investors, Colony Capital and Eurazeo, which own about 30 percent of Accor.
