ACE Limited

ACE Limited is an international insurance company with core business in the areas of direct insurance and reinsurance companies and based in Zurich.

ACE employs approximately 15,000 employees and reported 2008 global revenues of 13.203 billion U.S. dollars. The Group is represented in more than 50 countries with its own offices, serving customers in more than 140 countries. The ACE Limited shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange and were represented to July 17, 2008, the stock index S & P 500.

History

ACE was founded in 1985 and based in the Cayman Islands with offices in Hamilton ( Bermuda) by a consortium of 34 large corporations. In 1993 the company became a stock exchange through an IPO on the New York. As a result, ACE expanded through expansion of their business as well as through various acquisitions. Followed in 2002 with the opening of European headquarters in London, the entry into the European insurance business.

In 2008 the group decided to move its headquarters from the Cayman Islands to Switzerland. The relocation to Zurich was completed on 18 July 2008. This was accompanied by the conversion of ACE Limited, a joint stock company under Swiss law.

Strictly speaking, the history of the company dates back to 1792, since this year the CIGNA Corporation was founded in 1985 by which the ACE Ltd.. was taken.
