Achille Baquet

Achille Joseph Baquet (* November 15, 1885, † November 20, 1956 ) was an American jazz musician (clarinet, saxophone ) of the New Orleans Jazz.

Achille Baquet grew up in a musical family; his father Theo genes Baquet, led the Excelsior Brass Band and his brothers Harold and George were both musicians; the most famous of them was George. Achille was African American, but had a fair complexion, which enabled him to overcome the existing racial barriers. He learned clarinet at Tio Luis and then played with the Original New Orleans Jazz Band, Papa Jack Laine's Reliance Brass Band and the Happy Schilling Dance Orchestra. Baquet was a composer of the title " Why Cry Blues ," which he co-wrote with Jimmy Durante. He will also " Livery Stable Blues", made history with Yellow Nunez.
