Acholi people#Location

As Acholi traditional settlement area of the African people of the Acholi is called.

Mostly this refers to the northern Uganda districts of Gulu, Pader and Kitgum. The living across the border in South Sudan Acholi are often not considered in the designation Acholi land.

The Ugandan Acholi land and the neighboring districts are affected by the war between the Ugandan army and the rebel Lord's Resistance Army since 1987.

Trivia

2009, a short film entitled " Acholi " was released, which takes up the issue of the humanitarian situation after decades of civil war in this region. Directed by Dean Israelite, of the same year was awarded the Short Film Emmy in the category " Drama ".
