Aci Bonaccorsi
Aci Bonaccorsi is a city in the Province of Catania in Sicily in Italy with 3370 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).
Location and data
Aci Bonaccorsi is located 16 km north of Catania on the southern slope of Mount Etna. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture and industry in Catania.
The neighboring municipalities are Aci Sant'Antonio, San Giovanni la Punta, Valverde and Viagrande.
History
The town was founded in 1169 as a fief village. It belonged to different genders, including the Bonaccorsi, the name of donors.
Attractions
The Church of Consolation was built in the 12th century, the apse is still the original from the 12th century. Inside are frescoes from the 18th century.
