Acolhua

The Acolhua ( nahuatl Ācōlhuah ) were a people of the Nahua in the Valley of Mexico. They formed with the Mexica ( Aztecs ) and Tepanecs a triple alliance, which is commonly known as the Aztec Empire. Political center of the Acolhua was Texcoco ( Texcoco ) in today's State of Mexico, on the eastern shore of the former Salt Lake Texcoco. The most famous king of the Acolhua was known as the poet-king of Texcoco, Nezahualcoyotl.
