Acoreus

Acoreus was probably an Alexandrian scholar and astronomer.

There is the possibility that he instilled in Gaius Julius Caesar the Egyptian era and convinced him of the advantages over the Roman lunar calendar. Caesar then commissioned a committee headed by Sosigenes of Alexandria with calculating and appropriate reform of the Roman calendar in Rome.
