Acoustic emission

As acoustic emission (from Latin emittere = send ) the emission of sound ( sound event ) is called from a sound source in acoustics. The belonging to the acoustic emission measured quantity is the source strength indicate as sound power level Lw

The machine noise information regulation prescribes in Germany that manufacturers of many machines and devices must specify the sound emission of the product clearly visible, for example, the manufacturer of lawn mowers.

In the prediction of noise emissions according to established models of sound pressure level of the sound immission is determined at a specified distance from the sound source. The further spread is then calculated on the basis of this sound pressure level and the known distance to the sound source. The existing at the specified location sound pressure level is referred to in the context of noise protection as emission level.
