Acquarica del Capo
Acquarica del Capo is a Southeast Italian commune ( comune ) with 4825 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Lecce in Puglia. The municipality is situated approximately 50.5 kilometers south-southeast of Lecce in southern Salento.
History
The castle was built by Acqua Rica in 1190 by the Norman Tancred of Hauteville. The settlement of Acqua Rica was only after the destruction of other towns by the Saracens in the 9th or 10th century.
Traffic
Through the community, the Strada Statale 274 SALENTINA Meridional leads from Gallipoli to Santa Maria di Leuca. The station Pressice - Acqua Rica is served by the Ferrovie del Sud Est on the route from Novoli after Gagliano del Capo.
