The Acquavella Galleries is an art shop, founded in 1921, which since 1967 has its offices in the Upper East Side of Manhattan on East 79th Street # 18.

History

The founder of the gallery was Nicholas Acquavella, who immigrated in 1919 coming from Naples to the United States and two years later, at the address 598 Madison Avenue an art trade with Italian paintings began. The gallery owned by the family since that time grew through the sale of paintings by the Italian Renaissance and Baroque to American private collectors and museums. 1956 acquired the gallery, as well as Armand Hammer, a part of the collection of the film actor Edward G. Robinson. Since 1960, when the founder's son, William Acquavella, co-owner of the gallery has been paintings by European painters of the 19th and 20th centuries were taught. Misadventures
