Brands and meaning

With the different brands, the group has a broad base. Titleist is the leader in golf balls and as well as Cobra manufactures the complete range of golf. FootJoy is the market leader in golf shoes and golf gloves. For several years, golf apparel is marketed under this label. Under the label of Pinnacle golf balls are sold exclusively. The first golf equipment Acushnet in 2002 had a turnover of one billion U.S. dollars per year. In addition to Callaway and TaylorMade / adidas Acushnet is still considered one of the leading golf equipment.

History

The Acushnet Company was founded in 1910 by Phillip E. " Skipper" Young in Acushnet, Massachusetts (USA). The former Acushnet Process Company initially produced exclusively rubber products, including water bottles and bathing caps. 1932, the company had two divisions: Rubber and golf. Both were very successful. 1935, the first Titleist golf ball was produced.

The rubber division was sold in 1985 as part of the concentration on the golf division. In the same year the Footjoy golf shoe producer General Mills was bought. 1995 was purchased and incorporated into the subsidiary Cobra Golf from Acushnet in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, settled group of companies American Brands.

In March 2010, Cobra Golf was sold to Puma.

In May 2011 Acushnet went over to the sporting goods company Fila for 1.2 billion U.S. dollars.
