Adab (Islam)

Under the Arabic term adab ( أدب, DMG adab ) refers to education and sophisticated appearance. Particularly in Sufism ( Islamic mysticism ), he is often in connection with the conduct of a student ( Dervish ) from his teacher ( Sheikh ) was used.

Derived from the original meaning is Adab also a generic term in the Arabic literature. To adab literature include pre-Islamic poems and tribal stories as well as the literature for the educated citizen of the Islamic Middle Ages.
