Adai people

The Adai ( other spellings: Adaizan, Adaizi, Adaise, Adahi, Adães, Adees, Atayos ) were a tribe of Indians in North America. The Adai language is considered as an isolated language. They lived in Louisiana and were allies of the French against the Spaniards. Since their settlement area extended over French and Spanish territory, they suffered severely from the conflicts between the two nations together.

The Adai had in 1700 about 400 members in 1827, however, only 27 and are now considered extinct.
