Adalbero of Styria

Adalbero ( nicknamed " the Rough ", † 1082 ) from the House of Traungau was Margrave of Carantanians Mark (Styria ).

He was the eldest son of the Margrave Ottokar I of Styria and the Willibirg of Carinthia, daughter of Duke Adalbero of Eppenstein.

He stood in the Investiture Controversy as his father on the part of the party of Henry IV and fought against his brother Ottokar II, he was banished, abandoned to his brother, kept count's positions and was murdered in 1082 in the Enns Valley. According to other sources (F. Tremel, J. Wartinger ) was performed after his assassination in 1086 at Julben (Leoben ) by his own vassals.
