Adalbert II, Margrave of Tuscany

Adalbert II called the Rich († 10./19. September 915 ) was Margrave of Tuscany. He was the son of Margrave Adalbert I of Tuscany and his second wife Rothilde of Spoleto.

Life

On May 27, 884, the date of the last occurrence witnessed his father ( in the certificate of incorporation for the monastery Aulla ), he bore the title of Count; between 884 and 27 May 889 ( where he appears for the first time as margrave in a deed by the Italian King Guy of Spoleto ), he then entered his father's legacy as Count and Duke of Lucca and margrave of Tuscany.

He married between about 895 and 898 Bertha of Lotharingia ( probably 863 *, † March 8 925), the daughter of King Lothair II and widow of Count Theobald of Arles ( † between June 887 and 895 ).

Adalbert and Bertha had (at least) three children:

  • Guido ( Wido ) † 928/929, 915-928/929, Count and Duke of Lucca and margrave of Tuscany, 916- well 920 trapped in Mantua; ∞ 924/925 Marozia, " senatrix patricia et Romanorum ", † 932/937 in captivity
  • Lambert, † after 938, 928/929-931, Count and Duke of Lucca and margrave of Tuscany, 931 blinded by his half-brother Hugh of Vienne ( Bosoniden ), which gives Tuscia then to his brother Boso
  • Ermengarde, † 29 February after 932; ∞ to 915 Adalbert I of empires, Margrave of Ivrea, † probably 923 ( House of Burgundy - Ivrea )

Adalbert II was interred in the cathedral of Lucca. His widow, Bertha took over the regency for his son and heir Guido.
