Adam and Dog

Adam and Dog is an American animated short film by Minkyu Lee from 2012.

Action

Shortly after the creation of the world explored the first dog Paradise Garden of Eden. He barks a mammoth on, watching the fireflies and frightened in front of a hippopotamus. In a cornfield, he meets the first man Adam. Adam gives the dog something to eat and strokes him. The next day the dog is looking at Adam and randomly, the game sticks Throw developed. Between Adam and dog creates a relationship of trust, both exploring the paradise and stay together.

One day, Adam meets Eve. Although he poses for the dog continues stick, but has hardly any interest for him. As the dog with the stick always comes back, throws Adam the stick once so far as he can. As the dog returns, Adam and Eve have disappeared. In vain the dog in the near future to both. Suddenly a violent storm goes down and the dog hides with his stick held still in its mouth. In the distance he sees Adam and Eve escape and runs after them. With barking he draws attention to itself, but recoils when he recognizes Adams completely altered, raw appearance. Adam and Eve escape from paradise and go head bowed in the desert-like emptiness. The animals, including the dog, look after them from the edge of paradise. While all other animals turn away after some time and retire to the forest, followed by the dog Adam and Eve. Production

The idea for Adam and Dog was director Lee during his directing studies at CalArts. He began in late 2009 to work on the film. Lee created the film with a team of fellow animators who cooperated free of charge, in the next two years in his spare time. Main animators were next to Lee Jennifer Hager James Baxter Mario Furmanczyk, Austin Madison and Matt Williames. Subsequently, Lee devoted six months of full completion of the film. As a mentor to him stood by Disney animator Glen Keane to the side. The cost of production of Adam and Dog totaled between 10,000 and 20,000 dollars, which mustered the employed at Disney animator Lee himself.

According to Lee, the film aims to explain why there is a close bond between man and dog. Unlike many animated films, the dog is not shown "human" and also does not speak.

Awards

Adam and Dog won the 2012 Annie Award for Best Animated Short Film. The film was nominated in 2013 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ".
