Adam Bartsch

Johann Adam Bernhard Ritter von Bartsch ( born August 17, 1757 Vienna, † August 21 1821 in Hietzing ); Austrian artist and writer and the founder of systematic and critical graphic science.

Life

Adam von Bartsch joined in 1777 as Skriptor in the imperial court library in Vienna, studying under Jacob Schmuzer engraver at the Vienna Academy of engraving and in 1791 the first curator of the graphic collection of the Royal Library.
