Adam Berkhoel

Adam Berkhoel (born 16 May 1981 in St. Paul, Minnesota) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender, who was most recently with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League contract.

Career

Adam Berkhoel began his career in 1999 in the U.S. Junior League USHL at the Twin City Vulcans. After good performances he was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 in the eighth round at position 240. In the following four years he attended the University of Denver and won with the Hockey Team 2004, the national college championship of the NCAA.

In June 2004, his rights by the Chicago Blackhawks were transferred to the Atlanta Thrashers and he played the 2004/05 season with their farm team Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League and Gwinnett Gladiators from the ECHL. In the game year 2005/ 06 he came back mainly for the farm teams for use, but was also used nine times by the Thrashers in the NHL.

In the summer of 2006 he signed a one - year contract with the Buffalo Sabres. But even here he came only for the farm team in the AHL and ECHL used. In July 2007, the Detroit Red Wings him committed for their AHL farm team Grand Rapids Griffins, where he came in the 2007/ 08 season as a substitute goalkeeper Jimmy Howard on 31 missions.

After his contract expired, he signed in August 2008 with the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins team into a contract. With the Penguins, he came in his first season as a reserve goalkeeper behind John Curry regularly used. As Berkhoel in the season 2009/10 was only the third goalkeeper in Wilkes -Barre, he was awarded with the Wheeling Nailers game practice from the ECHL. As an end of the season his contract ran aground, the management of the Penguins did not renew it.
