Adam Cruz

Adam Cruz ( born February 13, 1970 in New York City ) is an American jazz Schlagzeugist, percussionist and composer.

Cruz learned from his father, percussionist Ray Cruz, Frank Malabe, Keith Copeland, Kenny Washington and Joe Chambers. He played in the 1990s much with saxophonist David Sánchez and the Mingus Big Band ( Gunslinger Bird, Dreyfus 1995). In 1997 he played in the Steve Wilson Quartet. He toured with Chick Corea, with whom he recorded ( Origin / A week at the Blue Note, Stretch 1998) and played in a duo with guitarist Charlie Hunter. In the 2000s he was a member of the trio of pianist Danilo Perez ( with Ben Street, bass).

He also took with pianist Edward Simon ( first in 1995 ) and with saxophonist Chris Potter, with Anthony Braker, Leon Parker, Dave Pietro, Francesco Cafiso, Tom Harrell and Ray Barretto and played with Pharoah Sanders, John Patitucci, Paquito D ' Rivera and others.

In 2011 he released his debut album Milestone ( Sunnyside Records, 2011) with his own compositions and saxophonist Miguel Zenón and Steve Wilson.
