Adam Drese

Adam Drese (* December 1620 in Thuringia, † February 15, 1701 in Arnstadt ) was a German conductor and composer.

Life

He received his education at the instigation of the Duke Wilhelm IV of Weimar with Marco Scacchi in Warsaw and took over in 1652 for the position of Kapellmeister at his patron. After that, he still worked in Jena and Arnstadt in the same function.

He created several works of vocal music, most of which, however, are not preserved. He achieved fame in his time by his chorale melodies to religious poems by Georg Neumark in his work " The poetic - musical Lustwäldlein ".
